We are praying for this decision to be resolved.

The local newspaper has already taken sides and unfairly characterizes anyone that disagrees with the decision.

Anyone that disagrees with the decision does not need to be ridiculed for thinking differently. They should not be categorized as less American. They had nothing to do with last years crowd. They don’t need lessons on raising children from people who have a column in the newspaper. Or lessons in what a cruel “woild” we live in, or “buck up.”

The newspapers should have their top reporter in the face of district office asking hard questions, like how come everyone was not allowed to voice their opinions? Is there political pressure and by whom? Why did the principal get booed? Is this discrimination? Does this in fact affect our Hispanic families?

They actually told families 10 years old and younger that they can’t celebrate. Yes they recommend that young people can’t see an event with their own eyes even though it is actually positive reinforcement. Remember our state tops the charts in suicides and dropouts. They literally called fellow “Ranchoans, whiners, greedy and to get over it.”

Funny is funny but the April Fool’s deal was “underhanded and nasty” quoting the newspaper.

Dr. Cleveland, We are a family of four, and we are ok on tickets. I just got off the phone with another family who said some parents met with you today. What prompted me to write this now is, we are running out of time.
The actual seniors graduating and their families are the ones that should be allowed to vote.
We are getting shorter on time, I could not be there today due to work and I really applaud those that could get there.
I will talk with them directly tonight when I am off work. This has really hurt families. The newspaper is cruel.
I have now heard pretty much all the reasons and you have been told over and over how this has been dealt is wrong, unfair and discriminatory.
One side is trying to explain and justify and using their efforts to keep this in Rio Rancho.
The other side is being put down for speaking up.

Each School Board member is sworn in by a judge and their oath of service maintains they must uphold the Constitution of the United States as well as the school's, isn't this a direct violation of "due process", fair process, or any equal and "good faith" standards that adhere to our Constitution and what they were founded on? I have personally heard that Dr. Cleveland is "fair" and we are absolutely counting on that in this matter.

We are a group of families that would like to have the Class of 2007 Graduation returned to "The PIT."



At minimum, let’s put this matter to a fair vote.



We are respectfully asking Dr. Sue Cleveland to make the decision to return to "The PIT."



RRPS has broken contracts before and can break this contract now and go "BACK TO THE PIT."



We need all persons that want the Graduation to be returned to "The PIT" to let your voice be heard.



In an unprecedented administrative decision, input was NOT allowed, requested or regarded by everyone affected. Only certain voices were heard.



This last minute decision has affected all of the graduating Seniors for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 along with their families and loved ones.



Due to this last minute decision over 10,000 people will not be able to attend the 2007 graduation.



We have heard all the reasons and explanations given by the administration and strongly feel they do not outweigh the fact that a fair process did not occur in the first place concerning this matter.


Please go online now. We have every right to be heard. "It’s not over till it’s over."

Going back to the Pit is a great idea. For many students this is there only claim to fame. Relatives would like to attend the ceremony and the Pit can hold more people who obviously would like to attend. Having a graduation with limited seating is archaic and so bourgeois. Step up to the plate and give family a chance to celebate this momentous occasion. Many have to travel great distances. Do you remember how they treated Mary and Joseph, there was no room at the inn. Don't do the same to the greates class of Rio Rancho's history, the class of 2007.

Gary Herron from the Rio Rancho paper was very wrong for trying to put an age limit on who may attend the graduation.
The way I see it as a senior, is we are role models for the younger children to stay in school so they will accomplish this in their life.
It teaches children that if we can do it they can do it too just stay in school and do good.
It is wrong to not let them go then it just makes them think well since I may not attend to see them graduate why should they?
It is also making Herron look really bad for trying to say that children 10 years and under should stay home with a babysitter.
Why dont he stay home himself?
We seniors are really good role models for those that are younger so they will want to stay in school.
IT shows them that anything we put our minds to and make goals we can accomplish.
We Need to go back to the Pit so everyone may attend no matter what the age is.

RRPS left parents out of a significant decision.The PIT will hold 13,000 people.The Star Center 5500.This is the largest graduating class.Plans should have been vote on by the people it most affects.Last year the PIT was packed with families and the graduating class was not as large.Go back now.

RRPS received my comment at the very beginning when this all started - and before any contracts were signed!

The decision to move the 2007 graduation was handled improperly and was the wrong decision. Parents should have been surveyed prior to the decision. Please let me know who was responsible for this decision. The current class sizes are too large to try to graduate anywhere smaller than the Pit. My wife and I have 5 children, one of which graduates this year. My parents, who have already bought airline tickets from Ohio, my wife's parent's and a couple sisters plan to attend just like the past two years. Who do I get to leave home with my allotment of six tickets? I know there will be many other people in the same situation. Do you really expect people to return their six tickets? The only chance I have of letting my family share the occasion is to find some friend who isn't using all of their tickets. I highly recommend you reconsider the decision and keep the Pit location while you still can.

Watching your son or daughter graduate IN PERSON is an important "precious moment", truly a celebration.

It is not about us it is about THEM!

IT REALLY IS ABOUT ALL OF US!

The graduates have earned it through 12 years of study.

I believe we have our accurate facts listed here numerous times. So, like an echo, Dr. Cleveland, “it is NOT why you imposed your decision, IT IS HOW you imposed your decision.” I understand you actually took the time to meet with some parents. We all are coming from different points of view but agree on the main issues. I have read the different emails being passed along and I for one need you to understand I fortunately have secured some extra tickets. BUT THERE ARE FOUR FAMILY MEMBERS IN FROM OUT OF TOWN THAT WON’T BE ABLE TO ATTEND AND IT WAS NOT EASY HUSLTING DOWN THE EXTRA ONES EITHER, IT WAS A PAIN. My family won’t have enough there are many more families that also won’t. I want you to know it was VERY difficult figuring who got to go and who didn’t. That is where I agree with the comments calling this matter discrimination. The only reason I was able to secure those tickets is because of all the parents that I know, I really feel for the families that need extra tickets and don’t know as many people that I do. This makes their task all the more difficult. I heard you apologized; I have a much better suggestion, let US VOTE.

Doc let's PACK THE PIT!

Capacity of the Pit:

18,000 plus can fit.

A section is blocked off so now 12,000 can fit.

They had to open up that section for last year’s graduation for us because we had the largest Class, which meant more people.

The 2007 Class is even Bigger, which will mean more people.

The media and school started out saying that 690 Seniors would be graduating; NOW they are saying 770 Seniors are graduating.

That means their figures were off and there will be more people coming.

Do you realize the graduating Class WILL be even bigger as each year goes by?

The section can be opened up so 13,000, 15,000 or up to 18,000 people as needed.

IF YOU DON’T THINK THE NUMBERS ARE CORRECT, CALL THE PIT.

A local newspaper reporter (Gary Herron) is trying to say 11,000 would come BUT remember, he is basing it on what he thinks last years’ numbers were, but he his wrong. Then he suggests that 10 years old and under CANNOT attend the graduation! Can you believe that? He is WRONG on last years’ numbers because they had to open up the section that is closed off, so there were more then 11,000 people present, this means more will come this year along with anyone under the age of 10!

Rio Rancho year in and year out AVERAGES roughly 20 people per graduate. That is an average.

Whatever numbers you want to use the fact remains the same 11,000+ to 15,000+ people are being affected by this decision.

“Let me play the devil’s advocate”, (like Gary did) WHAT IS WRONG WITH RIO RANCHO “PACKING THE PIT” FOR A GRADUATION?

We should be proud we did! Isn’t it true that Sue Cleveland and company, Gary Herron and Coach Brian Smith exhorted and hoped that we would “Pack The Pit” for all of basketball games?

Didn’t Mayor Jackson show his support and come out for the game; I think that is Great that he showed his support over a GAME?

I think this was Great too showing support and networking with others!

Consider then we want to “PACK THE PIT” for a sporting event, AND I DO TOO, why not “PACK THE PIT” for RRPS’s BIGGEST EVENT, their High School Graduation?!

I would hope our Mayor that showed that much enthusiasm for a “game” would show more for the WRONG being imposed on the Class of 2007.

I would hope Sue Cleveland and company, along with Gary Herron and other media that showed that much enthusiasm for a “game” would show more for the WRONG being imposed on the Class of 2007 especially our Seniors our children!

Weren’t we condemned and criticized in the news, in public for our emails and networking to get this situation changed?

The school’s decision is seriously wrong, no matter the reasons this is grossly unjust. I have heard all of the explanations pro and con, and you continue full speed ahead. Sure, life is not fair, but what about right and wrong? You advised some parents “I wish we had it to do over again”. Hmmm…….you have time to do it over again.

1. Allow seniors and their families to vote.
2. Why, because you have already allowed input from some of the public and your staff and then acted on it.
3. You have not allowed input by everyone that is directly affected.
4. You will then know which is location to use.
5. If you don’t allow this vote then take the graduation back to The Pit.
6. Dr. Cleveland you are being advised and influenced by persons that have their own motives and interests. Of course businesses and the mayor offer their support but they are overlooking some critical facts.
7. My motive here is simply this, our children, if you don’t allow this vote or change this back Dr. Cleveland, then you have to understand your decision is discriminatory, unfair and was not done in “good faith”.
8. Further, if you allow your current course to continue you are then absolutely negligent in your constitutional duties that govern not only your subordinates but also our children.
9. Consider if you will, you have had students motivated enough to prepare petitions, you had families come together to question your decision, because no one would listen to their concerns.
10. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I for one would like to reflect, “here's a situation that disproportionately affects large families. Is it an ‘unintended consequence’ that most of the large families who will have to pare down their numbers to 6 or 8, are Hispanic?
Is it “arrogance and thoughtlessness” or are we all just “Victims of political posturing”?
Is it true "The proof is in the pudding"?
Is it really discrimination?

Myself, my husband and one other parent met with Dr. Cleveland this morning to discuss the graduation. She was not aware that it had been announced on the news broadcast that the board had no intention of changing. She was curious to know where that came from.

Feel free to rebut this.

Please know there were several families that never received the “letter” from the school, which informed about the change. It is my understanding that Mrs. Gidget Anaya testified to you concerning how the “letter” arrived. You were advised if parents was not paying attention and did not read thoroughly through all of the documents that were mailed along with the “letter” about the graduation being changed, the “letter” was easily missed. Because the “letter” about the change was not the first document, it was among the other documents but a more “oh by the way” type deal. NO emphasis was given over a very critical matter and letter.

Thanks to KOAT-TV being on the ball that is in part how the information spread that a changed occurred. Further, no one from your office or the principal’s office would return her calls. There were others that did not know because they did not get the letter or see the news story. So, word was reaching a portion of families in March, but not everyone knew.

Dr. Cleveland, from March to April is one month, from April to May would make it 2 months. So roughly 2 months notice were given not 4 months as you stated on camera. Even into late March there were several families that were completely unaware of the change and the news coverage.

I wanted to make sure of this because “The Observer” gave parents hell for misinformation. That also causes me great concern because not everyone received the “letter”?

Again, please rebut any of this.

Everyone is saying things to benefit “their side”, the fact still remains, “thousands” are being affected and your decision is “wrong and discriminatory.”

Parents “in the know” have been trying to contact you since March concerning this, not until 04/06/07 did you finally allow meetings with a few parents. Many more parents wanted to meet with you but could not get time off around the very short notice you gave. And, not until you had put even more effort in keeping the graduation in Rio Rancho and now have tried to rationalize your "wrong"!

Prior to those recent meetings you finally allowed, you were not returning calls, or contacting families that tried to communicate with you. You were “passing them off” to your subordinates that basically were giving families template statements and “it’s a done deal” speech while clinging to the “contract is signed” rhetoric.

SADLY, you and your staff played upon our ignorance, who has the time and energy to really challenge this the way it should be? “The Observer” and the Ryan’s literally “attacked” anyone that dare speak up, “shame on them”! Even “anonymous” persons added their “nasty and bigoted” remarks. Literally putting down relatives and extended family along with telling advertisers to “move back to Mexico. (It now comes out according to you that “Cibola students” were the culprits, and we were falsely accused, but who cared because the attitude was “how dare we”, speak up! Reminds me of “Oliver Twist”, yes a child, asking for “more gruel”!) Dr. Cleveland, regarding “Cibola students” I would caution you to make sure your facts are dead on, that is a very serious accusation, one word “hearsay” and two more words "falsely accused".

I hope one of the families that spoke especially those Rio Rancho students touched your heart, they did mine. I was told you said you "cry at the graduations" and one mother broke down in tears in another meeting with you and told you her graduate had been crying over this!

Stop now Dr. Cleveland before it really is too late, "do the right thing" and change this back! All of your efforts and energy to keep the graduation in Rio Rancho DO NOT RIGHT THIS WRONG!

Each School Board member is sworn in by a judge and their oath of service maintains they must uphold the Constitution of the United States as well as the school's, isn't this a direct violation of "due process", fair process, or any equal and "good faith" standards that adhere to our Constitution and what they were founded on? We have personally heard that Dr. Cleveland is "fair" and we are absolutely counting on that in this matter.


“Everyone has already heard the arguments for and against returning the graduation ceremony to The Pit so there’s no reason to spend a lot of time rehashing what’s already been said. The only issue left to be decided is what most of the parents want to do. We believe that most of the parents want the ceremony to be held in The Pit. So our only request is that you authorize a vote so that we can see what the parents want. If most of them want to hold the ceremony at the Star Center, then we should hold it at the Star Center; if most of the parents want to return to the Pit, then that’s what we should do. If you feel you can’t authorize a vote, then the only fair decision is to return the ceremony to The Pit given that the decision was made without sufficient public input.

Further, the decision to move the ceremony to the Star Center disproportionately inconveniences larger families, many of whom happen to be Hispanic.”

We are a group of families that would like to have the Class of 2007 Graduation returned to "The PIT."

At minimum, let’s put this matter to a fair vote.

We are respectfully asking Dr. Sue Cleveland to make the decision to return to "The PIT."

RRPS has broken contracts before and can break this contract now and go "BACK TO THE PIT."

We need all persons that want the Graduation to be returned to "The PIT" to let your voice be heard.

In an unprecedented administrative decision, input was NOT allowed, requested or regarded by everyone affected. Only certain voices were heard.

This last minute decision has affected all of the graduating Seniors for 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 along with their families and loved ones.

Due to this last minute decision over 10,000 people will not be able to attend the 2007 graduation.

We have heard all the reasons and explanations given by the administration and strongly feel they do not outweigh the fact that a fair process did not occur in the first place concerning this matter.

School Boss Sorry for Graduation Flap

People attending the Rio Rancho school board meeting to complain about the change of venue for this year's high school graduation did not get what they wanted— the ceremony returned to Albuquerque— but they did get an apology from the superintendent.
Parents, students and others showed up at Monday's Rio Rancho Public Schools board meeting to speak for and against the district's recent decision to switch this year's graduation ceremony from the University of New Mexico Pit to the smaller Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho. The attendees filled the board room and spilled into the hallway. The item was not on the agenda but they spoke about the issue during public comment. The board took no action.
In total, 10 people spoke about the change and of those, seven were opposed. The main complaint is that the switch to the smaller venue limits the number of guests students can invite to the ceremony. Each student will be given eight tickets and will have a chance to get extra ones from those that were not claimed, or from their friends. Some who spoke said that even extra tickets will not be sufficient.
Yvette Aragon has two daughters graduating this year. She has six siblings and her husband has 13. She said in an interview during the meeting that there is no way everyone will be able to attend with the venue change.
"I'm upset at the way they went about this," she said. "There was no parent or senior input."
The decision to change the ceremony location was made by RRPS administration and Rio Rancho High School principal Richard VonAncken in February. There was no official process to determine whether the change would be preferred by students or parents.
During the meeting, Superintendent Sue Cleveland apologized to families for making the decision late in the year.
"We did not handle this very well," she said. "It should have been done earlier. Nobody wanted to hurt families or the kids."
Parent Ben Johnson, whose daughter will graduate from RRHS in 2008, spoke in favor of the change. He said he prefers the smaller venue in Rio Rancho. Two other parents also spoke in favor of the venue change, saying it would be more intimate, safer and a way to show support for the city and its businesses.
The Pit can accommodate more than 18,000 with standing room while the capacity at Santa Ana is between 6,000 and 7,000. However, Cleveland said the number at the Pit is reduced to 14,000 for high school graduations.
Cleveland said one reason the district made the change was to allow the officials to have better crowd control than last year. She said the 2006 RRHS graduation followed Cibola High School's graduation, which is a huge Rio Rancho rival.
"The goal was to ensure that our graduates this year did not have to experience that," she said. "We feel badly about it."

Some GREAT reading here.

After taking the time to really consider all of the reasons the administration decided to change our graduation. I have concluded beyond a shadow of a doubt that their reasons are self-serving.

Their decisions discriminate against families and graduates and do not allow everyone to have a voice in this decision. It also places hardship, stress and is a serious distraction in people’s lives. It was completely one sided.

At this time if they would allow us to vote they would lose. They will not allow us to vote at all costs.

Now this will take legal action.

They are not listening and not conceding they are wrong. If the "good Doctor" were truly sorry she would send the graduation back to The Pit.

Additionally, it is overtly obvious that there is a vast difference between the coverage on the news and the quality of the journalism concerning the Rio Rancho Observer, G. Herron, the Rio Rancho Journal, specifically the Ryans and the Tribune.

Specifically, Herron and the Ryans editorial were both very offensive and poorly put together, "under handed and nasty, at best" with points that make no connections, other then to back the status quo. They never addressed the serious issues and made light of the fact a vote or fair input was not allowed; tickets are an obstacle; too bad for anyone’s extended family; and discriminated against persons concerning their age!

(Herron) actually placed an age limit on the event! They degraded and shamed families for requesting relief and made their best argument to tell them to shut up, using because we told you so thinking, were smart your not, we know you don’t logic.

The other Journal and Tribune reporters presented the information that was given to them in a balanced manner.

NOTE: Our very own newspaper in "the city of vision" the Observer has NOT interviewed ANYONE that opposes this decision! Repeat has NOT!

Which now more then ever begs to ask…..WHY?

I am 18 years old and will be graduating this year. My grandfather will not be able to go because we won't have enough tickets. Everyone I have asked also needs tickets. I understand why the principal changed OUR graduation and you approved it. This is OUR graduation, it is not your graduation or the families from last year that got mad, or the students from other schools. It is OUR graduation. My question to you is do you really understand what you did is wrong? My grandfather will not go to the PAC and we don't have cable. You have disregarded the sacred unity of family. If you think you apology excuses you, you have hurt my family and me. We have done nothing to any of you to deserve this. Sorry does not cut it. I am old enough to understand right from wrong. This will be a bad memory for me. Too bad my year was going ok this has really ruined it. The newspaper said we have to learn life is hard, I already know life is hard I’ve had enough bad things happen to my family. Maybe all of you need to learn life is hard and change OUR graduation back.

At one end you have the Rio Rancho superintendent.

On the other end the have the Rio Rancho mayor.

Smack in the middle you have a Rio Rancho 2006 graduate.

When you consider all three, there is genuine HOPE!

Not from the adults, but rather the TEENAGER, the graduate!

WHY?

Because thank God and her loved ones she can really see and grasp “RIGHT FROM WRONG” and then acted on it!

There is HOPE for The City of Vision because of persons like this young lady.

I would guess for any of us that have had children and have watched them grow, we have given our best so that they would understand “right from wrong”.

Simple enough, because we all assume everyone knows “right from wrong”, right… wrong?

Of course the reality of life is, not everyone acts upon “right from wrong” or how we interpret what is right and what is wrong.

Of the three persons already mentioned here, surely she had other important matters in her life then to go sit for several hours before addressing the superintendent and the school board.

What prompted her?

Is it possible that genuine compassion and a great handle on “right from wrong” motivated her?

Motives:
Clearly her motives are pure; can the superintendent and the mayor say the same?

NO, because they have both failed miserably in this situation concerning “right from wrong”.

Regarding certain aspects, the superintendent admitted to being wrong, although she is quoted in the newspaper in March as saying, “I do understand the concern people have about it, she added.”

What a difference just one month makes.

Had she polled all the families affected prior to making the decision she would have learned the truth back then.

She told a parent on Good Friday, that, “we wish we had this to do over again” and “I wish we had done things differently”! This would be a semblance of “right from wrong”.

But now she must act on it.

Interestingly, the young graduate, did not have to poll all of the families, to know “right from wrong”, she considered the situation, saw the pros, saw the cons and told them all “this is not right”!

Dr. Cleveland,
YOU STILL CAN DO IT “OVER AGAIN”!

YOU STILL CAN DO “THINGS DIFFERENTLY”!

DON’T YOU SEE, “THIS IS NOT RIGHT”!

PLEASE LISTEN TO THIS YOUNG GRADUATE.

SHE HAS A MUCH BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF “RIGHT FROM WRONG”.

PUT HER ON YOUR STAFF.

SHE COULD RUN FOR MAYOR.

I am still empowered by her speech and her willingness to truly make a difference in the lives of others.

The board is responsible for establishing overall direction and district policy.

Under state law, the board hires the district Superintendent.

Know your School Board Members

In the winter of 99 I had a wonderful conversation with a young lady that was passionate about helping children-students-families.

What was most remarkable was she was dedicated to the task.

Sadly now I see and read about that same young lady embroiled in a controversial change.

So we don’t agree on where to hold graduation that I can live with.

It is the HOW that is being carried out and at any cost to keep it in Rio Rancho that causes me distress.

Dr. Susan Cleveland, take a look back 7-8 years when your heart was in the right place.

We all know it can be changed.

They are going to get your business sometime in the future anyway.

Change this back or put it to a vote.

When we chronicle RRPS, the 2007 GRADUATION will be remembered that Mr. Duncan, Mr. VonAncken, Lisa Cour, Dr. Sue Cleveland, Mayor Jackson and the Observer played the starring roles.
The great thing is there is a growing “paper trail” to confirm the horrible down and dirty comments all in the newspaper.
WE were ridiculed for not having our facts right and for voicing legitimate concerns. Yet, every time you read or hear the news, their story changes or their facts are wrong.

After 12-13 years of working towards graduating, we hoped you have learned.

We hoped you have learned to discriminate and impose your will on others.

Especially, don't use anything we taught you about "Democracy", rather, “do as I say, not as I do” is a much more advantageous edict.

Bottom line, President Lisa Cour said, "Life has its little disappointments and we deal with it". Too bad so sad, because you have to deal with it. I'm not sure why Sue broke down and admitted to any wrong doing, because I'm telling you all to "deal with it".
You should cater to our wishes our demands no matter how many are unfairly treated and WILL LOSE MONEY due to travel plans and other purchases, "My (decision) should be a sire-level decision as to where to have the high school graduation (and) was approved by the administration and this one is (also) supported by the board”.
So you see we ALL are in cahoots on this one even the Mayor has helped.

Families are praying for this decision to be resolved.

The fact is the local newspaper did take sides and continues to unfairly characterizes anyone that disagrees with this bad decision.

The fact is anyone that disagrees with the decision does not need to be ridiculed for thinking differently.

The fact is they should not be categorized as less American.

The fact is they had nothing to do with last years crowd.

The fact is they don’t need lessons on raising children from people who have a column in the newspaper.

Or lessons regarding what a cruel “woild” we live in, or “buck up.”

The fact is the newspapers should have their top reporter in the face of district office asking hard questions, like how come everyone was not allowed to voice their opinions, discrimination, “corporate partners”, etc?

The fact is regarding your “sire-level decision”, this is America, 8 to 10,000 people are not allowed to attend the graduation, plans had been made, money had already been spent.

The fact is only 2 months notice was given.

The fact is 45 to 60,000 people or more won’t be able to come over the next 4 years.

The fact is the mayor even said our high school will very soon have over 5000 students attending before Cleveland high is open.

Is there political pressure and by whom?

The fact is for sure the mayor is helping out along with local businesses to keep the decision intact.

Why did the principal get booed last year?

Will he get booed this year, it was his idea?

The fact is this is discrimination!

The fact is this does in fact affect our Hispanic families and anyone that needs over 6 tickets!

The fact is just because a family needs 50 tickets, this is not a bad thing, but you make it sound like it is.

The fact is not everyone needs 50 tickets.

The fact is they actually told families 10 years old and younger that they can’t celebrate. Yes they recommend that young people can’t see an event with their own eyes even though it is actually positive reinforcement.

The fact is please remember our state tops the charts in suicides and dropouts.

The fact is you literally called fellow “Ranchoans, whiners, greedy and to get over it.”

The fact is funny is funny but the April Fool’s deal was “underhanded and nasty” quoting the newspaper.

Have you ever wondered what happened to the fifty-six men who signed the Declaration of Independence? Five signers were captured by the British as traitors, and tortured before they died. Twelve had their homes ransacked and burned. Two lost their sons serving in the Revolutionary Army; another had two sons captured. Our SENIOR has three (3) generations of over 50 relatives,
including his parents and two (2) Brothers that all GRADUATED at “The Pit”.
All of those generations no longer live in NM, but we are a very close group.
We participate in Family Reunions and the turnout is huge.

Many others have already noted not to penalize large families and this is true.
We need a lot more then 6 or 8 tickets, we are sorry.

Now we have a “corporate partnered” venue to look forward to THAT IS JUST TOO SMALL.

We are all just talking in circles now
and I have read and heard enough evidence
to confirm the school’s decision is totally wrong and unfair.

Sorry, this inappropriate decision and how it is being forced upon everyone is way,
I mean way out of line.

hell someone submitted the Declaration of Independence for goodness sake!?

But, they are all corrent!
Because there was no input from everyone,
no vote

An editor and the administration all referred to the “many” that wanted this, what is the problem with putting this to a vote, right now?
You will all find out the actual “many” want this event at “The Pit”.
The actual “many” was actually only a handful of people at the “sire-level” and 13 persons from the RRPS council.
Then Cibola high school was blamed for last year.
Let us VOTE:
Our Seniors will have to revert back to their grade school days, you print up what 770 notes home with 2 boxes to check on the note - “The Pit” or no “Pit”, parents and guardians along with each Senior will vote.
Unlike the decree that has been imposed upon everyone, where only a certain “many” voices were heard and acted on, simply, that decision that act in itself is so very wrong and so very unfair, this is America right?
Call it what it is…..discrimination!
(The school Board is supposed to uphold the Constitution of the United States, just ask them).
Make sure you number each one of these notes that way they can be counted fairly.
Add a few lines so the Graduate and their Parent/Guardian can print and sign.
If you have a better idea, wonderful as long as the vote process is fair.
If the vote comes back no “Pit”, then the editor, the administration and the so called “many” had a finger on the pulse
and IF the vote comes back “The Pit” then Hallelujah! Times a wastin’!

"YES the district should have come up with a variety of options and make them available to the public, obtain feedback and base the decision on that feedback in combination with sound financial decisions (as well as access, parking, etc.).

YES the timing should have been better.

The school board, the mayor, Cleveland, Rio Rancho businesses, “corporate partners”, ALL benefit from the graduation being in RR.

I am very sick and tired, and literally sick over the newspaper’s attitude towards everyone that is questioning this discriminatory decision.

We have every right to question this decision; its affecting over 15,000 people and around 10,000 won’t be allowed to attend the graduation.

TV feeds, please….that’s crappy!

Dr. Cleveland hid out all through March until April Good Friday, and during that time the board pointed the finger at the administration.

The board president is still consistently rude, and the rest buried their heads in the sand.

RRPS did not let everyone provide input, no vote was allowed, 06 was rowdy and 07 gets the punishment, and every class from here on out gets punished too.

Plans were already made but Dr. Cleveland does not care!

Her apology should include allowing us graduating at The Pit.

If VonAncken, VonDuncan, VonHerron, whatever the right name is, I don’t know, were booed by the seniors last year, they need to investigate why that happened?

Where there’s smoke there’s fire, the problem is now all RRPS stinks because of a few people.

Driving to the Star Center. After driving through Rio Rancho you will come to a 2 lane road Paseo del Volcan, you can ONLY access the Center from this 2 lane road, upon reaching the Center there is ONLY 1 way in and 1 way out when you leave.

If you have been following any of the other comments in the Observer, people have complained about the drive and the ability to enter and exit. Some stated, the just kept on going because traffic was backed up in both directions.

The Observer also said there was 4 ways in like The Pit has 4 ways in. They dogged us for not having our facts correct.

FYI, traffic WILL BE A PROBLEM
